Education

"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."                                         Colossians 2:6-7

The Christian Education at Bridgeport Presbyterian Church seeks to transform lives of Christians of all ages through the development, implementation, and oversight of the educational ministry of the church. For young Christians from nursery through senior high school this educational ministry, rooted in the Bible and in the teaching of God’s love and mission, includes classroom-based Sunday school, and special programs. Adult educational programs involve study of the faith, Bible exploration, Christian life in society, and other topics.

Adult Education

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me willnever be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

In the Body of Christ, the Church, we are united in Christ, who is our “Bread of Life.” Our goal is to live as faithful disciples that we might grow into spiritual maturity.  One of the biggest determining factors for faith maturity, according to a study by the Search Institute, is one’s involvement in Christian Education over a period of a lifetime. It is through regular participation in study with others in the Body of Christ that we can truly grow.

We will offer several different types of opportunities for fellowship, personal and spiritual growth, this fall.  I pray that you might find the places which will help you in your faith journey.

Youth Education

By definition, adolescence is a period of constant change. Change, by nature, means instability. During these adolescent years, teenagers invariably seek answers to the questions, "Who am I?" "What is the purpose of life?" What can I do well?"

To find adequate answers, we believe that young people need to know and understand that God cares for them and that God is relevant to modern life. We strive to communicate these concepts in simple, understandable terms, and through meaningful friendships with young people.

Children's Education

Bridgeport Presbyterian Church strongly believes that teaching God’s Word and modeling His love is of great importance in its mission to the church family. Once a month, Kids Klub meets on a Sunday afternoon.  This is an opportunity for children aged 5 – 5th grade to participate in a fellowship group.
