Children's Education

EDUCATION AND MINISTRY FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN

Bridgeport Presbyterian Church strongly believes that teaching God’s Word and modeling His love is of great importance in its mission to the church family.  During the church school hour that follows our worship service each Sunday, classes for all our younger folks are held in the classrooms that line the hallway leading to the fellowship hall.  Infants are given large doses of TLC by caring adults; Mom and Dad are encouraged to attend their own class.  The Toddler/Two Year Old class hears stories of God’s amazing work in the world and begins to feel the security of belonging to a church family.  Preschool children experience Bible stories, music and crafts; an occasional Bible verse is memorized, as well.  The elementary class filled with children in grades 1 – 5 is also a place where Bible stories are retold and craft time is enjoyed.

Once a month, Kids Klub meets on a Sunday afternoon.  This is an opportunity for children aged 5 – 5th grade to participate in a fellowship group.  At times, the children make cards and crafts for our older members who are unable to attend church on a regular basis.  At other times, the children enjoy a swim party at the YMCA, a bowling party or a roller skating party.  The goal of the group’s leaders is to present a blend of service projects and social activities.

KIDS KLUB

Our kick-off for Kids Klub for the 2009-2010 school year is planned for Sunday afternoon, October 4.  We will meet at the Dollar Tree store at Meadowbrook Mall at 3 PM.  We will shop for children in the Shoebox Ministry program.  We will journey to the church afterwards to wrap our gifts and enjoy some food and fellowship time together.  We will also talk about future events and activities.  A pizza dinner will be provided.  Bring money for shopping and invite your friends.  Please call Sue Davis at 842-6532 by Saturday, October 3 if you plan to attend.  The Youth Group will be joining us that day to shop and fellowship together.

MOM’S DAY OUT

Mark your calendars for the next Mom’s Day Out scheduled for Tuesday, October 15. The fun begins at 10 AM.  Infants, toddlers and preschoolers enjoy playing, creating crafts and hearing Bible stories under the supervision of caring adults.  Lunch is provided, and activities conclude at 12:30 PM.  Invite your friends and neighbors to participate in this program as well.  Reservations are due to Betty Jo Jones (842-2669) or Sue Davis (842-6532) by Sunday, October 11.

To give Mom and Dad some time to shop for Christmas or just some time to relax together, we will sponsor a Parent’s Night Out on Friday, December 11.  The fun begins at 6 PM with dinner provided for the children aged infant through 10 years.  Activities include playtime, crafts, stories, snacks and movies.  The evening concludes at 9:30 PM.  Put the date on your calendar; more details will come as the date draws near.

For your information, the adults who are providing the child care have been screened through background checks processed through the WV Presbytery office.
