Steve Elderbrock

Pastor Steve grew up in Findlay, Ohio, before heading off to Denison University, where he earned a dual degree in Philosophy and Film in 1989. He later received his M.A. in History from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. During that time, the senior pastor of the church he had attended all his life suggested he consider going to seminary and becoming an ordained Presbyterian pastor. After much prayer and consideration, Steve enrolled in the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After receiving his Master of Divinity degree and being ordained by the PC(USA) in 1997, Steve began his first pastorate in LeRoy, Minnesota. He has since pastored in Ottawa, Ohio and Burnsville, North Carolina before being called to Bridgeport Presbyterian Church in July 2023. Pastor Steve recently received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary (but there’s no need to call him “Doctor Steve;” he still prefers to just be “Pastor Steve.”)  In his spare time, Steve enjoys sitting on the front porch of the manse reading, laughing at his two cats (Frankie and Sherlock), trying to exercise regularly, watching baseball, and traveling with his wife Deb. Together they have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.
